About HDTS


The Bihar State Nursing Council was constituted in the year 1971 under the authority of Bihar Nurses, Midwives & Health Visitors Act of 1961.

The First council was nominated by Government with different members representing various constituencies under section 3 of the Act, all together consisting of 22 members. The Council is an Autonomous Statutary Registration body for qualified Nurses, Midwives, ANM's and Health Visitors. This department is responsible for providing Medical Health and Family Welfare related services to the citizens of densely populated state of Bihar spread over a vast area of 2,36,286 sq. km.

Objectives of Nurses Registration & Tracking System (NRTS)

  • Simplified Registration and has integrated uniform system across the country.
  • Empower Nurses with National Unique Identity Number (NUID).
  • Renewal of licence once in five years linked with 150 hours of Continuing Nursing Education (CNE).
  • Candidates getting NUID Card will get the incentive of 30 hours of CNE for the first time.
  • Facilitate for effective manpower planning for policy makers at State and National level.
  • Uniform issuance of Nurse Passbook comprising of complete history of Nurse Midwifery.
